Fifteen Days in Granite CabinPaintings by James Clayborn Opening Reception will be held on Thursday, October 7th, 5 - 7 pm, and is open to the public. Clayborn will be relating stories from his fifteen day experience at 6 pm. The Hockaday Museum of Art presents the Fifteen Days in Granite Cabin: Paintings by James Clayborn exhibition from October 6 through December 18. As part of the Artist-Wilderness-Connection Program, Clayborn spent fifteen days painting in a remote part of the Great Bear Wilderness. The inspiration and subjects are documented in the works he created during the experience in part of Montana's most secluded wilderness area. Clayborn says that his participation in the Artist-Wilderness-Connection program was "perfect timing" as he had been looking for something at that point in his life to recharge his creative batteries. "My stay at Granite Cabin was about as complete as it could be. All I needed was right there. Shelter, beautiful Indian Summer weather, the water, the amazing geology of the area, its history, folks I met while there, the floral and fauna - complete with a visit to the cabin one night by a sub-adult Grizzly."
